You can download them free of charge and you have the option to copy/burn them either through a USB flash drive or DVD media. You can make a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive installer using the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool that was created by Microsoft. Is this a safe way to duel boot win7 and ubuntu?I'm trying to partition a SSD with Ubuntu and Win7 with a second HDD as my primary storage device.
Any tips?Yes it is a safe way for dual booting using Ubuntu and Windows 7. Well, to be able to boot from them both you should try installing the Windows 7 first and set as primary, and then Ubuntu at your designated partition. Then, while doing some partition always take note the letters of the partitions that you want to install the Ubuntu in order to avoid formatting the wrong drive. Use a free program called imgburn to burn the ISO image file as a bootable Windows disc. You can find the program download here:Once installed, open the program and choose the Write image file to disc option. Make sure when you open the ISO/image file to check the box Make Image Bootable, as seen here:Put in a blank writable disc into your burner drive and burn the image.
When the process is done, also make sure to set your optical drive to boot first in the BIOS settings. Insert the disc and reboot the computer to start the Windows install process.

How does one perform a clean install specifically in UEFI mode?I am running Win7 Pro sp1 on a Dell Latitude 6430 -E family.
Is Dell A 16. In setup the boot sequence has disappeared inUEFI mode therefore it is missing from the (F/12) boot device choices list.
Legacy mode works fine but I am limited to x86 32 bit programs. I have learned it maybe a partition issue. Several months ago the recovery partition and a 3rd. Disappeared; however, I did not have a problem with UEFI mode boots for some time. I learned that a clean install is necessary, of course with the partitions pre-set. The installation must be done in UEFI mode. I have another 2.5' HDD and I can pre-set the partitions but, how do I install in 'UEFI mode' when I have to boot from the Windows installation disc?

It crashed a number of times due to power problems. The restore DVD that I made somehow became corrupted? I have in the meantime installed Ubuntu. I think the version is 12.04 or 13, anyway we had another power problem, though this time we lost our boot partition and the computer dropped off the desk damaging the DVD drive during the earthquake the other night. I need the computer working ASAP. However, there is a lot of data I need to keep if possible, In addition we have a painfully slow internet connection. If I can do this with Ubuntu great if not I want to go back to Win 7 Home Premium.
I have a valid key that came with the PC. Sorry for the long story. But that is about the sum of it. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. This section is not written yet.
